November 01, 2020 by Aaron Ngo

Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle: “Devil of the Right Arm” (Episodes 42 through 51) Webtoon Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On September 6, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle’s third story arc: “Devil of the Right Arm”. At this point in the Webtoon, Tower of God should be renamed to Tower of Betrayal. Everyone betraying each other is becoming more and more common as participants become desperate to climb the Tower.

Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle: “Connection” (Episodes 39 through 41) Webtoon Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On September 6, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle’s second story arc: “Connection”. The arc followed up with Dan using Emile—the smart AI—during the 29th Floor Test, and Khun taking the phone from him for using an “unreliable method”. While messing around with Emile, Khun learned that Baam is alive and wonders how the AI would know such a thing—assuming it was true.

Tower of God Volume 2: The Workshop Battle: “Workshop Battle – Prologue: Emile” (Episode 38) Webtoon Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On September 6, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2’s “Workshop Battle – Prologue: Emile”, which helped up set-up Volume 2’s next part using the perspective of a smart AI—similar to an iPhone’s SIRI—named Emile. She was shown conversing with several Regulars like Edin Dan, Ran, Miseng, and Androssi from all the previous arcs, helping them out with their problems.

Emily in Paris Netflix Original Season 1 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On October 23, 2020, I started watching Netflix Original Emily in Paris—released on October 2, 2020—and finished on October 24, 2020. The latest rom-com—a 10-episode season—centered around Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), a workaholic at a marketing firm in Chicago, being offered her dream job of working in Paris after her boss discovers she’s pregnant and cannot make the trip. Of course, Emily accepts the job and moves to Paris to bring the “American perspective”.

November 01, 2020 by Aaron Ngo

This Is Us Season 5 Episode 1+2 “Forty: Part One” and “Forty: Part Two” Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On October 27, 2020, This Is Us returned with a two-hour premiere dedicated to new storylines in addition to the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter Movement—specifically the protests that sparked in response to George Floyd’s murder. The choice to include these felt inevitable only because This Is Us takes place in our reality and deals with uncomfortable truths twenty-four-seven.

Digimon Adventure REBOOT Episode 21 “The Tide Turning Update” Review

November 01, 2020 by Aaron Ngo

Digimon Adventure REBOOT Episode 21 “The Tide Turning” Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Episode 21—“The Turning Tide”—had a lot of good spots, but it also had a lot of bad spots. The plot is acting weirder than usual, as the character stories with the separated DigiDestined aren’t really working. The animation was kind-of wonky in this episode except when Tai and MetalGreymon achieved a truly unexpected Digivolution through the emotionally-charged power of courage.

Digimon Adventure REBOOT Episode 20 “The Seventh One Awakens” Review

Digimon Adventure REBOOT Episode 20 “The Seventh One Awakens” Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Episode 20—“The Seventh One Awakens”—played out like a boss fight on a video game, which is another way of saying this whole episode was action-driven. Not action-driven like the “Greymon versus Ogremon fight” episode, but more objective rescue mission where the players give chase to rescue someone.

Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna Movie Review

Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna Movie Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On October 18, 2020, I watched Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna—on Blu-Ray and DVD—with my little brother. After seeing it had released on October 6, 2020—after months of delay due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic—I had to purchase it to see how the original Digimon Adventure story finally ends, closing the book on twenty years of stories by looking back on why Digimon Adventure was so special—nostalgia—before acknowledging that the characters and the fans can’t stay kids forever.

Digimon: The Movie Movie Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On October 20, 2020, I revisited Digimon: The Movie after my time saying “goodbye” during Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna. Released in the year 2000, Digimon: The Movie was a bold, innovate masterpiece—being made from three different Digimon movies—that features all the major characters from Digimon Adventure and 02 with a plot that spans over eight years.

Enola Holmes Netflix Original Movie Review

October 24, 2020 by Aaron Ngo

Enola Holmes Netflix Original Movie Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On October 20, 2020, I watched Enola Holmes on Netflix. Starring Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things, this amazing movie has little to no resemblance to other Sherlock Holmes stories other than the family name. It’s very smart for attempting to be its own thing and allowing Millie Bobby Brown to run the show—even if the plot got somewhat convoluted as a result of this wonky character-driven approach.

Legacies Season 2 Review

Legacies Season 2 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Legacies Season 2 had a solid beginning, only to fumble the ball a bit toward its coronavirus pandemic cliffhanger. Let’s talk about the beginning first. The season 2 premiere started off with a “Hope-less” summer vacation, seeing as Hope Mikaelson—our main protagonist—found herself stuck inside Malivore. As she is trapped inside the Malivore pit, everyone else’s memories of her have gone as well.

Legacies Season 1 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

When I heard there was going to be a spin-off of The Originals—which was a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries—I was skeptical—but also very excited—about the latest entry coming to the TVD-Universe especially when this series was released only a few months after The Originals aired its series finale.

Station 19 Season 3 Review

Station 19 Season 3 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

A spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19 follows a group of heroic firefighters of the Seattle Fire Department at Station 19 in both their personal and professional lives. While the series sounded good on paper, there were a few issues with the series when it came down to marketing purposes.

Tower of God Volume 2: Extra Floor Side-Stories (Episodes 36 and 37) Webtoon Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On September 5, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2’s side-stories. The additional episodes are interludes—36 was dedicated to Baam’s past and 37 was centered around Leo-Ro and Quant. Getting the full context on Baam’s transformation into Viole was well-received, and learning what happened to Leo-Ro and Quant—while unexpected—was also a hilarious reprieve.

On September 5, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Prince of Zahard’s ninth story arc: “Zygaena’s Flower”. The arc kicked off the 21st Floor’s official test, with Team Sweet and Sour—named in honor of Nia—already in the lead due to all the other teams forfeiting in fear of Viole’s FUG reputation.

On September 4, 2020, I started and finished Tower of God Volume 2: The Prince of Zahard’s sixth story arc: “Epilogue”. Doing the math, the Epilogue was also Tower of God’s 100th episode. Reaching 100 episodes—from August 30, 2020 to September 4—in six days feels like a milestone worth celebrating and acknowledging.
