I’m glad the series is bringing back the trilogy episodes. The last time they did this format was in season two. My favorite episode with Kevin Pearson was created, so trilogies do work… however Kate also got a centric episode, and I don’t remember enjoying that all that much. Maybe since the show is starting with Randall, Kate’s storyline might not be so bad… especially since we’re getting answers on this bad boyfriend of hers.

Arrow Season 8 Episode 9 Review. Green Arrow and the Canaries backdoor pilot. Written by Aaron Ngo.

I believe we all had our concerns when this spin-off was announced. On paper, a show centered around Oliver Queen’s daughter seems like an amazing idea. However, with Arrow ending and its issues of repetition being put to rest, I was worried that this Mia Smoak spin-off would end up making those same mistakes except with a genderflop twist on the whole thing.

Thankfully, I was wrong. This episode did a lot to prove itself as a spin-off while also being an essential follow-up to the Crisis ramifications that affected the Arrowverse.

The Good Place Season 4 Episode 8 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The episode is divided into two storylines that gradually come together. Eleanor, Jason, Tahani, and Janet have funerals for themselves while Michael goes to trial to hear what the Judge will ultimately rule the experiment. The message about people improving is highlighted through Michael’s growth and plea that humans need a point system that can reflect true change.

The Good Place Season 4 Episode 7 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The premise of this season finally blew up in their faces. After three seasons of plot twists that keep us on our toes, The Good Place pulled a fast one to save the experiment before it all ended. We’re on the last day of the experiment, and even a countdown clock had been put into the sky. The only thing that’s stopping the Soul Squad from 100% succeeding is Simone’s on-point suspicions about where they truly are.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 Episode 8 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Grey’s Anatomy reached its 350th episode. Wow. I cannot believe 50 episodes have already passed after the 300th one. A lot went down in-between those times. We’re given payoff on our time invested: flashbacks to the things Meredith’s done in the name of saving that person’s life and references to old characters like Cristina Yang, Callie Torres, and Addison Montgomery. Even April Kepner and Arizona Robbins were mentioned. The trial that will determine Meredith’s fate takes place in this episode.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 Episode 7 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

This episode dealt with family issues. Richard Webber’s brother Chris and niece Sabi come visit Seattle. They go to Grey-Sloan thinking Webber still worked there, and run into Maggie. The two girls look alike (sisters in real life), and start trying to bond with each other on the way to Pac-North. The other story is Amelia Shepherd visiting Pac-North to tell Owen that she’s having a baby with Link. Meredith is spending her time there as well to reunite the sister pack. I miss their sister moments.

Legacies Season 2 Episode 5 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

I enjoyed this episode more than I should’ve. I loved the Hope-Lizzie reunion / lecture. The Josie-Landon romance (not a fan) had good moments. MG and Kaleb’s bromance was a bright spot in this episode as well. Not a lot happened on the plot front, but the show set up a lot with Sebastian and Professor Vardemus. The plot twist with Wesley character was unexpected for sure. It reminds me of the professor was switched twist from Harry Potter.

Legacies Season 2 Episode 4 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

This episode centered on a Japanese Samurai and an Oni Demon who can possess people had a lot of love in it. Hope is settling into her new norm, Josie speaks Japanese and has a protectiveness over Landon without the proper context, Lizzie learns the truth about her new love Sebastian, and MG gets dragged into that mess. Alaric and the Sheriff have an ongoing flirtation, which I hope becomes something. After eight seasons of TVD being sad and alone, Alaric Saltzman deserves some happiness.

Supernatural Season 15 Episode 5 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

I found myself being uninterested in this “filler” episode until it hit the 20-minute mark. The case of the week played out rather quickly. Sam and Dean use throwback identities from season one (OMG!), they protect a blond girl from brother werewolves, and after they off themselves, the truth comes out. The blond girl wasn’t a victim at all. She was demon. A White-Eyed Demon. Chuck brought Lilith back from The Empty to help him mess with the Winchesters.

Supernatural Season 15 Episode 4 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The opening scene was not Supernatural but an all-out action sequence. We saw Dean fight like he was on a superhero show, see his friend Benny die again, and watches his brother Sam murder him. We also got a mention of the demon blood addiction again. Afterwards, Sam wakes up from his dream vision. There is no further mention of this scene for the rest of the episode.

This Is Us Season 4 Episode 8 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

As I mentioned in my last episode review of This Is Us, Randall has been getting effective parallel storylines with his parents. The newest episode showed us that “R & R” time, the lame name for when Randall and Rebecca hang out with each other in flashbacks and in present day before Thanksgiving. Kevin and Cassidy’s storyline also concludes before the holiday. Kate and Toby are showing signs of conflict as well in their storyline, but it didn’t add to anything in the long run.

This Is Us Season 4 Episode 7 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

This episode had me thinking on Randall’s character growth and the parallels we’ve been getting with him lately. The season’s taking their sweet time to explore Randall’s teenage / childhood with his parents, and how that’s affected Adult Randall’s skills as a parent for Deja and the other girls in the present day.

Arrow Season 8 Episode 4 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Stephen Amell delivered his best performance in this episode, “Present Tense”. This episode was a dedication to Arrow’s second season with Deathstroke, Grant Wilson, terrorizing Star City. Also, Team Arrow 2040 (Mia, William, and Connor) show up in present day. Oliver Queen and everyone else are flabbergasted. William’s surprised, Mia’s in disbelief, and Connor gets rejected by John Diggle, who hadn’t adopted Ben Turner’s kid yet.

The Flash Season 6 Episode 5 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Cisco-centric episode has arrived. While I enjoyed this episode as a filler in-between, I found that it broke the momentum of the previous four episodes, the strongest in the show’s history. However, this was an effective Cisco story that felt like a backdoor pilot.

Supergirl Season 5 Episode 5 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Supergirl is pushing Kara Danvers and William Dey on us. I can feel the writing trying to make us like them, and feel sympathy for William Dey. Don’t get me wrong, I do feel its pull, but I’m not liking the potential romance. After what happened with Mon-El during seasons two and three, I really hoped the show wouldn’t try to pull this stunt again. The main heroine doesn’t need a romantic interest right now. Onto the positives, Leviathan’s starting to make their move.

Batwoman Season 1 Episode 5 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On this week’s episode, Alice / Beth Kane stole the spotlight. I was thrown that we got so much background on Alice / Beth so soon compared to Kate Kane, who popped in out of nowhere to save a girlfriend that didn’t want her. I enjoyed most of this episode for Alice, Kate, and Mary. Not in that order. Sophie needs rework on her character. Luke and Mary’s scenes together rocked. Hopefully, this means she’ll learn the Batwoman secret before an inevitable Crisis comes for them all.

Batwoman Season 1 Episode 4 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Batwoman is getting closer to catching up to her Elseworlds appearance from last year. The first three episodes were rough in the origin story phase, but now we’re getting to villains of the week. A common superhero trope to make the momentum going on Kate’s double life. Kate and Reagan were really cute this episode, so I hope this isn’t the last time we see them together onscreen. Mary and Alice continue to impress me as well. Honestly, those two and Kate are the only people worth paying attention to. The other characters need to figure out stuff.
