The Good Place 4x04 "Tinker, Tailor, Demon, Spy" Episode Review

October 20, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

The Good Place Season 4 Episode 4 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The episode opened fun, until Chidi’s rushed giraffe drawing came to life, that lead into an exploration of constant mishaps. The Soul Squad—Eleanor, Janet, Jason, Tahani, and Michael—meet to figure why all their plans aren’t working or going ridiculously wrong. Then, Glenn the demon shows up to drop the bombshell of Vicky being in the Michael suit the whole time, bringing a lot of unneeded tension and mistrust among the group.

Supernatural 15x02 "Raising Hell" Episode Review

October 20, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

Supernatural Season 15 Episode 2 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

This is essentially a two-part season premiere. Supernatural picks up where we left off in last week’s episode, dealing with all the souls getting released out of Hell. Yes, Demon-Jack (I’m not bothering with his name) successfully put up the ghost barrier, but it’s only a short-term solution. This is why Rowena and Ketch return to help the Winchesters this week, bringing along so much sexual tension that it’s almost funny the ridiculous of the situation.

This Is Us 4x04 "Flip a Coin" Episode Review

October 17, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

This Is Us Season 4 Episode 4 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

This Is Us spends time setting up new relationships and readdressing old ones. Beth and Randall’s college romance is explored after their first date to reveal Carol’s (Beth’s mom) disapproval from the very beginning. Kevin and Cassidy (Jennifer Morrison) are getting comfortable with each other, but Kate and Toby are going through some marital issues. They’ll likely divorce by the end of this season… they don’t seem to be in a good place in the flash forward so…

The Flash 6x02 "A Flash of the Lightning" Episode Review

October 16, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

The Flash Season 6 Episode 2 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The Flash primarily deals with Barry and Iris processing Crisis On Infinite Earths. Unlike what the show did with Iris’ “inevitable death” during season three, Barry actually comes to terms with his disappearance in the future because “that’s what heroes are supposed to do”. Grant Gustin and Candice Patton’s scenes as Barry and Iris are getting stronger coming off this revelation. Iris West is keeping her momentum up as an exceptional character still lit… two episodes in a row! The writing has improved immensely…

Arrow 8x01 "Starling City" Episode Review

October 16, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

Arrow Season 8 Episode 1 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Arrow season eight has revived the show’s glory days. Oliver Queen is finding a sense of humor, the Crisis is here, and all time fan-favorites have returned to join the season one remix. Yeah, I’m calling it a remix because that oddly makes sense to me. Watching the premiere had me going to bed so happy. The final season is going to give us and Oliver Queen one hell of a time… for the last time.

Supergirl 5x02 "Stranger Beside Me" Episode Review

October 15, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

Supergirl Season 5 Episode 2 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Second episode of the season is setting J’onn up as a major player, Lena’s descent into technological evil territroy, and Kara’s limitations as both a hero and reporter. Also, the episode shows us parallels between the romances (Alex & Kelly, Nia & Brainy). James Olsen is shown oddly happy in this episode as the show is making way for his exit out. You shall be missed, James Olsen. Kara and Lena didn’t share screentime this episode, which was a major mistake as I would’ve liked to see their new normal by now.

Batwoman 1x02 "The Rabbit Hole" Episode Review

October 15, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

Batwoman Season 1 Episode 2 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The second episode picked up where the “Pilot” left off, dealing with Kate’s accurate theory about Alice being Beth Kane, her long-lost twin. This episode stepped away from the fast exposition dump to get the Batwoman origin story rolling, and took a closer look at the sisters at play here: Kate, Alice, and Mary. Luckily, I said these characters were the most interesting, and the show realized this fairly early on.

The Good Place 4x03 "Chillaxing" Episode Review

October 13, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

The Good Place Season 4 Episode 3 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo

Now that the experiment is officially underway, the other members of the Soul Squad have to step-up: Jason and Tahani. Eleanor and Michael are a great team-up honestly, and seeing them do evil together is very satisfying. Jason is deployed as Jianyu to get Chidi anxious again, similar to the season twist when we learned Jianyu was Jason. It truly is awesome to see nostalgia get weaved into plot.

How To Get Away With Murder 6x03 "Do You Think I'm A Bad Man?" Episode Review

October 13, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

How To Get Away With Murder Season 6 Episode 3 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The latest episode, “Do You Think I’m A Bad Man?” suffered from a lack of focus as a lot of sub-plots cluttered an actual focus. This is a typical issue with How To Get Away With Murder as they care more about the overall picture than the smaller character stories in progress like Connor’s big mistake with the immigration case and Michaela’s rise to power in the courtroom.

Grey's Anatomy 16x03 "Reunited" Episode Review

October 13, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 Episode 3 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Charmed reunion episode with Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano was amazing. In this episode, they play sisters on the show, Heidi and Haylee, who’s sister Heather ends up on life support. Look, all their names start with the same letter. That’s so CHARMED. Richard Webber is their doctor at Pac-North, and he has to mediate between them so they can decide what to do with Heather and life-support. Their whole storyline is Charmed minus the magic.

Legacies 2x01 "I'll Never Give Up Hope" Episode Review

October 12, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

Legacies Season 2 Episode 1 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

After the first season concluded, everyone moved on. Lizzie went to Europe to visit her mother, off-screen Caroline Forbes. Josie stayed behind to watch over their father, Alaric, who’s spiraling into obsessiveness. Landon is taking care of wolf Rafael, who’s becoming less human as the summer progressed. MG went to Kaleb’s hometown for the summer, so they can “bro it out”. Hope, in the meanwhile, realized she didn’t die, and found herself trapped in Malivore.

Supernatural 15x01 "Back And To The Future" Episode Review

October 12, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

Supernatural Season 15 Episode 1 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

“The End” has arrived, according to Chuck. Sam, Dean, and Castiel are in another fight for the universe. They battle the zombies like it’s The Walking Dead. They learn pretty quickly that these aren’t zombies, but spirits that hitched rides in the nearest bodies available, thus the entire cemetery. This also includes a demon who possesses Jack’s dead corpse.

Riverdale 4x01 "In Memoriam" Episode Review

October 10, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

Riverdale Season 4 Episode 1 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Season Four started with a stand-alone episode to say goodbye. Back in March 4, Luke Perry (age 52) passed away, and this episode was dedicated to his memory while also writing off his character, Fred Andrews. There were no Riverdale goofiness anywhere in this episode. The emotions were high, the story was emotional, and Archie Andrews carried his grief throughout the whole thing.

This Is Us 4x03 "Unhinged" Episode Review

October 10, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

This Is Us Season 4 Episode 3 Review. Written By Aaron Ngo.

This week’s This Is Us is a slow burn.

After the first two episodes that refreshed the series, this week’s episode went backwards in terms of entertainment. I believe the show will find ways to tie us back to Randall’s first day as councilman and Kevin’s attempts to help Uncle Nicky while bonding with Cassidy (Jennifer Morrison) at that AA meeting, but most of it was kind of boring.

The Flash 6x01 "Into The Void" Episode Review

October 09, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

The Flash Season 6 Episode 1 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The season six premiere started amazing. There were high expectations attached to this season as it will lead to Crisis On Infinite Earths in the first half of the season, and then the fallout will be dealt with in the second half. However, we only dive into Crisis material at the start of the episode and then at the end.

Supergirl 5x01 "Event Horizon" Episode Review

Supergirl Season 5 Episode 1 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Season Five premiere had everything we wanted / needed / begged for. Lena has evolved into an actual character / antagonist, Kara finally decides to tell Lena the truth about her being Supergirl, too late of course, and all the other characters are enjoyable to watch. It was amazing to see the cast finally well-rounded and with purpose. Even James Olsen!!!

Batwoman 1x01 "Pilot" Episode Review

October 08, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

Batwoman Season 1 Episode 1 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

Batwoman has finally arrived on The CW. The pilot had some pacing issues, a little too much exposition in the beginning, but the series has potential to be an amazing show in its own right. Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) was a joy to watch onscreen and the character dynamics set-up have potential to be the heart of the show.

How To Get Away With Murder 6x02 "Vivian's Here" Episode Review

October 08, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

How To Get Away With Murder Season 6 Episode 2 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The second episode started with what we know best from How To Get Away With Murder: the classroom and the K4’s last semester before graduation. The idea of K4 graduating with so much blood on their hands is still crazy to me. Asher is also given Laurel’s seat in the special group because we don’t have time to meet anyone new like Gabriel. After, we see Asher and Connor given the immigration case.

The Good Place 4x02 "A Girl From Arizona, Part Two" Episode Review

October 06, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

The Good Place Season 4 Episode 2 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The direction of the final season is interesting and another “thinker”. What does it mean to be a good person? was the question that The Good Place has been trying to answer since the pilot aired, but now it’s shifted in a way… “What does it mean trying to be a good person?” Finding the answer on this one seems lighter and in a lot of ways, more inclusive to those of us on redemption arcs.

Grey's Anatomy 16x02 "Back in the Saddle" Episode Review

October 06, 2019 by Aaron Ngo

Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 Episode 2 Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

The latest episode had a ton of set-up for the rest of the season. Meredith’s trial will come in three months time, likely a mid-season finale build-up, Alex and Richard are having an amazing time at Pac-North, Jo is transitioning from fellowship to Attending General, Link and Amelia are expecting a baby, Maggie and Jackson… and Owen and Tom are not liking each other very much. Miranda Bailey is on the lookout for the new Meredith and Alex, a competition of sorts that pit DeLuca and Helm against each other.
