"Teen Titans Go! To the Movies!" Movie Review

August 15, 2018 by Aaron Ngo
Now Playing Only in Theaters! -- https://www.facebook.com/TeenTitansGOMovie/ https://www.instagram.com/teentitansgomovie/ https://twitter.com/TeenTitansMovie http://TeenTitansGO-movie.com https://lnk.to/ttgmovieID -- When the Teen Titans go to the big screen, they go big! "Teen Titans GO! to the Movies" finds our egocentric, wildly satirical Super Heroes in their first feature film extravaganza-a fresh, gleefully clever, kid-appropriately crass and tongue-in-cheek play on the super hero genre, complete with musical numbers.

I watched this movie a couple days ago. Before I get into what I thought about it, let me clear the air about how I feel about the series in general. I do not like Teen Titans Go! because it is an utter embarrassment to the original Teen Titans series. They joke too much, have a hard time fighting against villains, if they fight them at all, and like to spend their time doing ridiculous things.

Putting all that in consideration though, I believe what I hate about the series is what made the movie completely work. The whole plot of the movie is a joke in on itself: Robin and the other Titans go to Hollywood to get a movie made about them... so they can be taken seriously as superheroes.

Which is what the current day is like... if a superhero doesn't have a movie, no one is going to pay attention or care about said superhero. You're not considered a real hero. The jokes are nonstop in this movie, some hit effectively, but a good amount of them are a miss if you're not a little kid.

I found myself swimming through the barrage of jokes at various times in the movie.

After being denied a movie and getting made fun of by the other superheroes (Justice League), Jade Wilson, the movie director, tells Robin that she'll consider making a movie on him and his team if they had a main villain to fight. This sends them off. The Titans go on a quest to find their own arch-nemesis to get taken seriously.

Slade comes in with his mind manipulation. I cracked up a few times shamefully at his tricks and how the Titans kept calling him "Deadpool". Plus the joke about his name will never get old, and I chuckle whenever I say his name now.

The singing and rapping was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't ready for the sick beats they laid out and it got me going along with the nonsense easier. I think I'm just a sucker for musicals and having one in a cartoon is the best. The ending number was my favorite.

To enjoy this movie, you honestly cannot take it seriously. It is pure fun and a joyride from start to finish. Plus the mid-credit scene is worth watching the movie in its entirety.
